Morgan State University Receives $30,000 Grant from the Henry Luce Foundation to Support Weaving Affinities Planning Project

Baltimore, MD — Morgan State University is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation to support the Weaving Affinities Luce Planning Grant. This initiative aims to strengthen networks of solidarity, resource sharing, and collaboration among diverse organizations involved in the Religion and Theology Program of the Henry Luce Foundation.

Supervised by Dr. Harold Morales, Interim Chairperson and Professor of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, and supported by the university’s Center for Religion and Cities, the project will be led and managed by Principal Investigator Dr. Jorge Juan Rodríguez V, Associate Director for Strategic Programming at the Hispanic Scholars Program and Visiting Assistant Professor at Union Theological Seminary.

The project will convene 30 to 50 Luce grantees from the Religion and Theology Program to assess current networks and deepen relationships for future collaboration. In a time of mounting threats to democratic institutions, this effort seeks to foster a resilient ecosystem of organizations committed to the “pursuit of a more democratic and just world.”

“This grant underscores Morgan State University’s leadership in promoting dialogue and collaboration across diverse communities,” said Dr. Harold Morales. “We are excited to support this vital initiative.”
